Steinway Piano Gallery

Nashville

Celebrating over 90 years in business, the owners of American Keyboard Galleries, Inc. and Steinway Piano Gallery of Nashville have been in the music industry as a family owned and operated business for four generations. In 1929, Joseph Mark Metcalfe began working in a small retail music store in Evansville, Indiana. He worked closely with the owner of the company and in 1949 took ownership of the store in downtown Evansville. Mark's son Bill began working in the store as a young man and in 1972 took over the operation. He grew the company and in 1989 that growth lead to a new market in Nashville, Tennessee.

In 1989, American Keyboard Galleries, Inc., opened American Keyboard Gallery in Antioch, Tennessee, featuring Steinway & Sons pianos as well as other name brand pianos, organs, and digital pianos. In 1995, American Keyboard Gallery opened a second location in Brentwood, Tennessee, featuring Steinway & Sons and Boston pianos.

In October 2001, American Keyboard Gallery was awarded the designation of Steinway Piano Gallery. This honor has been bestowed upon only eleven Steinway Piano Galleries worldwide, including Steinway & Sons’ own six factory stores. The decision was made to close American Keyboard Gallery Antioch, then American Keyboard Gallery Brentwood changed its name to Steinway Piano Gallery in January 2002.

In March 2003, Steinway Piano Gallery moved from Brentwood Place Shopping Center to its permanent location at 4285 Sidco Drive in Nashville.

In 2007, Bill's son-in-law Brandon Herrenbruck joined the business as the fourth generation of the family continues in the business.

In September of 2008 Bill and Brandon looked to Knoxville, TN to expand the business by opening American Piano Gallery. American Piano Gallery is Knoxville's home for Steinway & Sons pianos. Now we serve the market as Steinway Knoxville.

In 2011 Bill and Brandon once again saw a need and decided to expand the business by opening Alabama Piano Gallery. Alabama Piano Gallery is Birmingham's home for Steinway & Sons pianos.

On September 25, 2014 American Keyboard Gallery celebrates 85 years in business and 25 years in Nashville, TN with Steinway & Sons President Ron Losby and Mayor Karl Dean. Click here to see the pictures from the event.

March of 2019, Steinway Piano Gallery of Nashville expanded its product line by becoming a regional Dealer Representative for the Allen Organ Company of Macungie, Pennsylvania. Allen Organs of Tennessee, a Division of Steinway Piano Gallery of Nashville, was created for the digital church organ and digital theatre organ markets and serves a multitude of counties in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia and North Carolina.
